Breaking: Students Directed to Vacate Hostels as Security Concerns Escalate in Jos

EVACUATION OF STUDENTS FROM UNIVERSITY HOSTELS
Following the prevailing security concerns in Jos, particularly the near-chaotic incidents recorded on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in areas surrounding the University which escalated tension and posed a threat to students residing in the hostels, the Vice Chancellor, Prof.

Tanko Ishaya, has approved the immediate evacuation of students from the University hostels.

The evacuation exercise is being supported by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, HE Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who has made transportation available for the exercise. The vehicles have been duly authorised to operate, including during the curfew hours.
The evacuation will proceed as outlined below:
Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 3:00 PM: Students residing within Jos and its environs only.
Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 8:00 AM: Students whose parents or guardians reside outside Jos and its environs.
Management has ensured that adequate security arrangements are in place to safeguard the hostels and the University community at large.
