FCT Area Council Election: ADP Chairmanship Candidate Pledges People-Oriented Projects in Gwagwalada
The Chairmanship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Comrade Shanabo Abubakar, has urged electorates in the area to reject money politics ahead of next year’s Area Council election.
Comrade Shanabo Abubakar made the call while speaking with journalists in Gwagwalada, Abuja, on his developmental agenda for residents of the area.
According to the ADP chairmanship candidate, the appeal is necessary to ensure the emergence of credible leaders and the enthronement of good governance in Gwagwalada Area Council.
He identified money politics as one of the major factors responsible for poor leadership and bad governance.
Comrade Shanabo Abubakar emphasized that electorates should prioritize the election of visionary leaders who are committed to delivering the dividends of democracy across all the ten wards of Gwagwalada Area Council.
Describing Gwagwalada as a strategic area within the FCT, the ADP chairmanship candidate promised to initiate people-oriented projects if elected in the February 2026 chairmanship election.
He further pledged to address insecurity, improve the healthcare system, empower youths and women, develop road infrastructure, provide quality education and potable water, enhance agricultural development and food security, as well as ensure the provision of other basic amenities aimed at improving the socio-economic wellbeing of the people.
Comrade Shanabo Abubakar expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) so far and urged the commission to ensure the conduct of a free, fair and credible 2026 FCT Area Council election.
He also advised eligible voters in the area to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them to elect candidates of their choice who would pilot the affairs of Gwagwalada Area Council for the next four years.
Calling on youths to avoid being used by selfish politicians before, during and after the election, Comrade Shanabo Abubakar stressed the need for politicians in the area to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship in order to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
