First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, will commence a 14-day fasting and prayer programme in 2026.
The spiritual exercise, themed “Break Camp, Move Forward and Possess the Land,” is scheduled to hold from January 11 to January 25, 2026.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, the Minister in charge of the church, Reverend Deji Oyelami, said the programme would take place daily by 5:00pm at the church auditorium, located opposite the Sharia Court, along Dukpa Road, Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Reverend Oyelami disclosed that other ministers who would be ministering during the programme include Evangelist Moses Akanbi and Dr. Femi Lanre Oke. He added that guest gospel artists expected at the programme include Unique Twins and Victory International Choir, among others.
According to him, the fasting and prayer programme is aimed at committing the new year into God’s hands, setting spiritual goals, and seeking divine direction.
In his words, “When the church prays, it positions itself to experience God’s presence and guidance, spiritual growth and revival, protection and deliverance, as well as the welfare and peace of its members.”
He noted that prayer plays a significant role in addressing Nigeria’s security and economic challenges, stressing that it has the power to bring about spiritual awakening, repentance, and divine intervention, which can lead to positive changes.
Reverend Oyelami therefore urged Christians to remain steadfast in prayer to enhance their spiritual growth, experience breakthroughs and blessings in their endeavours, and overcome challenges in the new year.
