The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Rt. Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, has announced that the Federal Housing Authority Mortgage Bank (FHAMB) will begin full commercial operations by December.

He made this known on Tuesday at the commissioning of the Bank’s newly constructed corporate headquarters, which was completed within 13 months.

Ojo commended the Managing Director of the Mortgage Bank, Dr. Hayatudeen Atiku, noting that attempts made by some individuals to push him out of office at the time he assumed duty would have been a great disservice to Nigeria and the organization. According to him, Dr. Atiku has fully embraced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“When I assumed duty, a group of people advised me to remove the Managing Director of the FHA Mortgage Bank, Dr. Hayatudeen Atiku. I turned down that advice,” Ojo said.

“Within two years, we have erected two major structures on the same street. The tallest structure in Gwarinpa Estate, which is also set for commissioning, is one of them, built by the FHA. With Dr. Hayatudeen Atiku as MD, we have saved the government and the FHA billions of naira in public funds.”

He further cautioned detractors to allow government business to progress, emphasizing that without Dr. Atiku’s experience and leadership, the FHA would have lost valuable expertise.

Ojo praised the entire staff of FHAMB, assuring them that their welfare would continue to be prioritized. “In December, when your promotion requests came to me, I ensured they were approved to boost productivity. I have also approved several requests, including logistics and other welfare packages, to guarantee smooth execution of official assignments,” he said.

Expressing satisfaction with the commissioning, Ojo recalled his first visit to the former FHAMB office in Wuse, where he had insisted on relocating to a new headquarters within the shortest possible time — a decision that materialized within 13 months.

He also stressed that under the current management, project commissioning has become a regular occurrence in FHA due to its determination to address challenges directly. “When I assumed duty 16 months ago, I warned against project abandonment. Every project has a multiplier effect on citizens and the nation, so no project will be abandoned in FHA,” he stated.

The highlight of the occasion was the formal commissioning of the new edifice for use by the management and staff of the Federal Housing Authority Mortgage Bank.
