FRSC Mourns Five Officers Killed by Reckless Driving, Vows Tougher Sanctions
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has expressed deep concern over the loss of five of its operatives this month, who were knocked down by reckless motorists while carrying out their duties.
FRSC Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, reacting to the increasing dangers faced by personnel, stressed that the Corps will no longer tolerate acts of recklessness that put its staff at risk.
He said he has directed that all motorists responsible for such tragic incidents be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
“These knockdowns occurred across the following formations in September: Ekiti Sector Command on 6th September 2025, Ogun Sector Command on 8th September 2025, Taraba Sector Command on 15th September 2025, Jos By-Pass Unit Command on 19th September 2025, and Obollo Afor Unit Command on 24th September 2025,” Mohammed stated.
“Their deaths are not mere statistics; they represent human lives—dedicated fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and breadwinners—cut short in the line of duty while safeguarding Nigerian roads.”
He further called on personnel nationwide to remain highly alert and prioritize their own safety, emphasizing that officers must be alive to save others.

The Corps Marshal also disclosed that the FRSC would step up engagements with relevant authorities to strengthen the protection of its personnel and facilities. He clarified that these measures are not acts of aggression but safeguards to deter assaults and guarantee that officers can discharge their duties without fear of attack.
Mallam Shehu Mohammed reaffirmed that disregard for traffic laws and threats to the safety of FRSC personnel will henceforth attract strict sanctions and legal consequences.
