Governor Alia’ Side-Chicks…
By Dr jarlat Uche opara
He isn’t a saint. Just human with blood and water running in his veins. I didn’t realise how much he was and is hated not until I did that piece “Alia Not A Reverend Father Now” few days ago. It stired hornet nest and tickled many mouths to run like broken FCT water pipes.
He was called all sorts of names. One called him “worse than Satan”, “organ harvester” who would rot in hell. Some questioned the chances and possibility of him coming back to function as a Reverend father after roiling the dignity of priesthood to the mud. While others chided him for bringing the diginity of priesthood to a terrible disrepute, who could not bring his priestly training to bear in his governance.
Sadly many priests joined this club of urban mobs of fierce criticism against His Excellency Alia Hyacinth.
Some even branded me as his paid public image maker. I wished it was true, at least I would eat one full well grilled chicken and drink chilled bottle of coke from the large sum.
After the piece and the barrage of unfounded caustic criticisms against him I decided to dig deeper into his failures, challenges, success and performance in the last two years.
Shockingly I discovered how his administration in comparison to other previous administrations stands tall over others in cutting down corruption, in building more infrastructures for the masses and reducing the siphoning of public funds through the channels of Godfatherism etc.
The killings in Benue didn’t start with him. Governor Ortom experienced worse. He didn’t create it and has not been complacent in providing leadership in this area. His built before he became the governor and his built now seems wide apart. He is not enjoying the killings and it obviously telling on him.
Those who listened to the President’ speech during his visit to Benue with a decerning mind would have understood how in a terrible dilema Governor Alia is, pawn in a powerful chessboard, if he is not careful would be used as a trade off.
To those who said he is not bringing his seminary training and priestly experience to bear should know that Benue resources are not used to finance life of prodigality as it is with some governors. If he is, that would have been the first stone his urban mobs of ferocious critics would have thrown at him.
At least he is decent in that area and his vows of celibacy, chastity etc very much intact. He is not a saint, can make mistakes. Even priests who are not into partisan politics, but doing their pastoral duties either in parishes, government institutions are not saints and not liked by all their parishioners or colleagues.
Governor Alia’ SIDE-CHICKS (Sadists In Democratic Engineering. Charlatans, Hooligans Insinuating Chaotic Killings Senselessly) are bent to destroy him not because he is not performing but because they want him to be a miracle worker because of his status as a priest. It doesn’t work that way.
Place Hyacinth Alia shoulder to shoulder with other governors especially governors from the states of his urban mobs of critics, Alia would stand towering.
The challenges Alia Hyacinth is facing is an institutional problem. One that has wrecked havoc to our democratic system and dividend.
He is fighting a war against political bedbugs that suck the resources of states to finance their temptation and feed their greed and life of wastefulness on Brazilian wigs, IPhones, luxury cars, travel expenses of their baby Mamas and mistresses littered everywhere.
Alia blocked all these and his head must be cut off and presented on a platter. Before you join the urban mobs of ferocious critics to call for his head on a platter jukwaa ese!
