Nigerian Pilgrims Dazzle Audience at Musical Concert in Don Bosco Basilica, Nazareth, Israel
The second batch of Christian pilgrims participating in the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) delayed Easter pilgrimage, comprising contingents from Imo and Abia States, captivated the audience during a musical concert performed by the Imo State Government House Choir on October 2, 2025, at the Don Bosco Basilica of Jesus the Adolescent in Nazareth, Israel.
This was disclosed in a statement by Celestine Toruka, Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations of the Commission, and made available to journalists.
The event marked a historic milestone as the first-ever musical concert organized by a Nigerian pilgrim group in Israel. It was a collaborative initiative between the Imo pilgrims and Tabar Tours Nazareth, a leading ground-handling company in Israel.
The concert featured solo performances by select Nigerian pilgrims, including a special Hebrew rendition by Vida Tabar. Sir Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN, delivered the biblical lesson, reading from Psalm 100.
The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, lauded the Imo Government House Choir, describing them as the best in Sub-Saharan Africa. She commended them for making the state and its governor proud, saying, “You have written your names in gold in the nation of Israel.”
She also expressed appreciation to the Chairman of the Imo State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Rev. Fr. Gilbert Alaribe, for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the success of the pilgrimage.
