The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and FIDIC Africa have initiated plans for a collaborative training programme designed to enhance engineers’ capacity for delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.

Nigerian Society of Engineers and FIDIC Africa said the initiative will focus on equipping professionals with the technical and managerial skills required for complex project execution across the continent.

The development was discussed during a meeting between the President of NSE, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, and the President of FIDIC Africa, Engr. George C. Okoroma, held at the National Engineering Centre in Abuja.
The planned programme is expected to train engineers on international best practices in infrastructure development, including competitive bidding, contract management, consultancy standards, and execution of multi-billion-dollar projects in both public and private sectors.
The two organisations noted that the initiative will strengthen engineers’ ability to secure and successfully deliver major contracts by aligning them with global standards and improving professional competence.
They also emphasised the importance of nurturing young engineers through early exposure to complex infrastructure projects, aimed at preparing them for future leadership roles in the engineering sector. Both bodies further agreed to deepen cooperation toward improving engineering consultancy practice across Nigeria and the African continent.
