Senator Kalu Hails Archbishop Ugorji at 74, Applauds His Moral and Spiritual Guidance

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State and the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District, has congratulated the Archbishop of the Owerri Archdiocese and President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Most Rev.

In a statement released on Thursday by his media office and signed by George Maduka, Senator Kalu described Archbishop Ugorji as a distinguished clergyman whose life and ministry continue to offer strong moral leadership and spiritual direction to the nation. He praised the Archbishop for his unwavering dedication to faith, peace, and national cohesion, stressing that his impact goes well beyond the confines of the Church.
The former governor and international businessman commended Archbishop Ugorji for his many years of selfless service to God and humanity, noting his humility, wisdom, and bravery in carrying out his pastoral duties. Senator Kalu said the Archbishop’s stewardship as head of the Owerri Archdiocese and leader of the CBCN has deepened unity within the Catholic Church and encouraged meaningful dialogue on issues of national importance.
He further observed that Archbishop Ugorji has consistently served as a moral voice, especially during difficult moments in Nigeria’s history. Through sermons, pastoral communications, and public engagements, the cleric has continued to champion justice, peace, good governance, and the sanctity of human life, thereby inspiring Nigerians across religious and ethnic divides.
Senator Kalu also acknowledged the Archbishop’s significant contributions to education, moral upbringing, and human development, particularly in the South East region.
