The Truth About This Coalition
By Dr jarlat Uche opara
Coalition isn’t new. Not new neither in the lexical space nor in the world of politics. People having been coalescing and would continue to coalese for shades of reasons.
ADC today is getting swelled up as a political party because of the influx of politicians into the party, though with a lot up their sleeves, with the unseating of the current President as their convergent purpose.
In the normal Nigeria parlance one would say that ADC as a party “don blow”. “Edom harmer”, “pepper don rest for ram’. Though in its early formative stage how this is managed can make or mar whatever their agenda is. The big wigs, the old players in thevpolitical leagues who showed mastery in their previous clubs are there in their numbers. Those that were so abysmal in their striker’ position are there too jostling for relevance.
It is the gathering of all sorts with bagages that would be unboxed soon and how it would be manged, harnessed and recycled into a more profitable product, a big challenge.
As good as this coalition sounds and seems to appear, timely too, the ruling party sees it differently. It has called it all manner of names to ridicule and makes it look purposeless, a dangling of an object without direction in a confused manner. All these are gimmicks and strategies, but the success of this coalition lies solely on those who are coalescing; their ability to focus on the bigger picture, approach it with open minds, having the ability to tell themselves the bitter truth, rally round themselves, close all gaps of selfishness and queue behind that one person that seems to be the trending brand.
I have no problem with all those big political players who would want to be chosen as the captain of this coalition ahead of the 2027 LaLiga pro-max. They have the right to throw their hat in the ring but the truth is, would their emergence muster the force, tsunamic enough to push off the unwanted debris? The records of how they laced their boot in their previous clubs are not unknown. Some of them played so badly, disrupting status quo and bestriding the space with might and influence without productivity. If such persons bring such demeanor in this coalition, the destructive end of the coalition becomes fiat accompli.
Nigerians are not in a hunky dori mood. It bites and the situation is tensed. If only these politicians coming together to rescue this drowning ship, can lay down their selfish interests and focus on the shrieking cry of the masses for help, 2027 would be a walk in the park, a sip from a tea cup and a meal served on a platter of Gold.
We have a brand. The biggest brand today in the political space unarguably. A brand whose patronage is organic, its fan base massive with a composition ingredient that is prophylactic. We have a branded product that dazzles the eyes of fake products, threatens their relevance and makes them feel unsafe, unpopular and unproductive.
We have a brand with a market value, with an assurance of giving one a good run for their money. This branded product has been tested and the customer’s reviews very overwhelming. It doesn’t need advertising, it doesn’t need rented patronage, it doesn’t need propaganda to sale. Coalescing parties, ignore this branded product, at your peril. He is the cruz, the groove and the moment. He is the scent, the fragrance and the force himself. Any platform he identifies with grows big over night. He is the platform himself. He is the crowd. Ignore him at your disadvantage. If this coalition would be productive, this brand must the branded captain of the coalition in the 2027 LaLiga
Who is this brand that is sort after across tribes, age, religion etc? This brand that is most hated? Most loved? Most talked about? Most criticised? Most praised and admired? This brand that gives many as sleepless nights as he gives excitment and joy?
