Tragedy as flood in Niger state claims 25 lives , 10 still missing

It was tragic and traumatic as Flash flood has reportedly killed 25 persons while 10 others are still missing after a night rain in Tiffin Maza and Anguwan Hausawa communities in Mokwa, Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.

It was said that rain which lasted for several hours and destroyed over 50 houses and occurred serious gridlock as the road to Mokwa has been blocked, leaving passengers stranded.

The Director-General of State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Baba Arah, said there were three survivors (a woman and her two children).

According to him, they are currently receiving treatment for wounds and shock at Mokwa General Hospital.

He explained that so far, 21 bodies have so far been recovered while over 10 persons are still missing as search and rescue operation continues.
