Travelers Feared Dead as Bomb Explosion Shakes Zamfara

Scores of travelers are feared dead following a suspected bomb explosion along the Yar’Tasha–Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Saturday.

The incident was confirmed by the Zamfara State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar, who said the blast occurred on Saturday afternoon.
Abubakar noted that while the explosion had been confirmed, details surrounding the incident were still sketchy.
“I can confirm that there was a blast in that area, but it just happened. I do not have details yet. I will provide updates later,” he said during a telephone interview.
Meanwhile, residents of the area alleged that the explosive device may have been planted by bandits who have continued to unleash terror across the state.
A video clip currently circulating on social media shows travelers in a state of panic as they hurriedly fled the scene following the explosion.
