2027: KWLL Reaffirms Power Rotation, Backs Sen. Karimi, Labels Kogi East Elites Forum “Attack Dogs”

The Kogi West Leaders League (KWLL) has reiterated its commitment to supporting Senator Sunday Karimi in the quest for Kogi West to produce the next governor in 2027.

Reacting to a press conference held by the Kogi East Elites Forum, the group criticized the hastily assembled forum, describing it as an “emergency vehicle” created to hijack and undermine the legitimate aspirations of the Kogi West people.

KWLL stressed that no level of political scheming, financial inducement, or discontented individuals from the Kogi East Elites Forum can derail the collective demand of Kogi West—from Kogi LGA to Yagba West—to occupy the Governorship (Lugard House) come 2027.

The group added that Senator Karimi’s remarks at the recent Kabba Day celebration align with the expectations of the people of Kogi West, noting that he has earned their vote of confidence.

They emphasized that the senator has fulfilled his duties of representation and has consistently delivered dividends of democracy to the district.

KWLL dismissed the claims made by Dr. Abubarka Rajab and the Kogi East Elites Forum, describing the attempt to engage individuals with questionable records to speak for Kogi East as both laughable and ineffective.

They described the forum as a coalition of failed politicians with waning relevance, asserting that its spokesperson has lost credibility within Kogi East politics.

Reaffirming the district’s determination, KWLL said Kogi West will continue its efforts to achieve the governorship through genuine dialogue with Kogi East and Kogi Central—a process already in motion.

After 34 years of statehood, the group insisted it is Kogi West’s turn to lead, grounding their position on justice, equity, fairness, and good governance.

“Kogi West has been denied power for too long. Our demand for 2027 is rooted in justice and the pursuit of good governance,” KWLL stated. “We will collaborate with like-minded individuals across all three senatorial districts to deliver true democracy and development.”

The group recalled that Kogi Central enjoyed four years of leadership in the old Kwara State and will, by 2027, have completed 16 years in Kogi State—at the exclusion of Kogi West. “The quest for justice, equity, and good governance cannot be postponed,” they stressed.
