President Tinubu congratulating Gov. Okpebholo

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State following the Supreme Court’s verdict affirming his victory in the September 2024 governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Okpebholo the winner of the poll, and his election was contested in court. However, the Supreme Court, on Thursday, upheld the results, bringing the legal tussle to an end.

Reacting to the judgment, President Tinubu urged Governor Okpebholo to be magnanimous in victory and to rally the people of Edo State—across political and social divides—towards a unified vision for development.

“Now that the legal hurdles have been cleared, it is time to accelerate the delivery of exceptional services and good governance to the people of Edo State,” the President said, noting that the governor has already made strides in that direction.

President Tinubu also extended his congratulations to the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, calling for continued cohesion and commitment in carrying out the mandate entrusted to them by the electorate.
