Insecurity: Joint Police, Military Rout Bandits in Deadly Kogi Forest Operation
Scores of bandits have suffered heavy losses in the ongoing offensive launched against criminal elements in Kogi forests by a combined team of police and military personnel.
In a statement issued on Sunday and made available to Capital Post, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Ovye Aya, disclosed that the coordinated operation has recorded significant success, with bandits flushed out of their hideouts, their networks dismantled, and several of them neutralised.
According to the statement, the operation is being executed with determination, professionalism and commitment, and is further reinforced by the Nigeria Police Force Air Wing, which provided support through precision air strikes. This collaboration, the command noted, contributed greatly to the achievements recorded so far.
The police also released emergency control room numbers—07038329084 and 08152195982—urging residents to promptly report distress situations or security threats anywhere within Kogi State for swift intervention.
SP Aya further appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and report anyone sighted with gunshot wounds, visible injuries or suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station.
The statement encouraged residents to continue supporting the security agencies with credible information on criminal activities within their communities, stressing that security is a collective responsibility and that, through joint efforts, a safer Nigeria can be achieved.
