The annual 14-day fasting and prayer programme of the First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, has come to a successful end, culminating in a special service of praise and thanksgiving.

The thanksgiving service featured Abuja-based gospel artistes, Unique Twins and Femi Bello, who led the congregation in a powerful session of praise and worship to thank God for the successful completion of the spiritual exercise.

The 14-day fasting and prayer, themed “Break Camp, Move Forward and Possess the Land,” was used to commit the lives of church members and the affairs of Nigeria into God’s hands as they journey through the year 2026.
Earlier, the Minister in charge of the church, Reverend Deji Oyelami, admonished the congregation to remain steadfast in faith and prayer as keys to their breakthroughs and success in their various endeavours in the new year.
Delivering his message from Joshua chapter 6 verses 1 to 10, Reverend Oyelami urged members not to deviate from the lessons learnt during the 14-day fasting and prayer, stressing that obedience and consistency were essential to reaping the benefits of the programme.
He further encouraged Christians to shun acts capable of denying them the opportunity to attain the next level in their pursuits in 2026.
The clergyman also emphasized the importance of commitment to the service of God and humanity in the new year, noting that such dedication would contribute to the overall betterment of society.
While wishing the congregation divine security and protection, Reverend Oyelami prayed for open doors, mercy, favour, blessings, and sound health to enable members to actualize their dreams and aspirations in 2026.
Highlights of the programme included special thanksgiving for members celebrating their birthdays in January, as well as the church’s general monthly thanksgiving.
