Baptist Cleric Urges Christians to Emulate the Virtues of Jesus Christ at Christmas
As Christians in Nigeria join their counterparts across the world to celebrate this year’s Christmas, the Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Reverend Deji Oyelami, has urged them to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ, who is the essence of the season.
In his Christmas message delivered in Abuja, Reverend Oyelami said the birth of Jesus Christ signifies the coming of the Saviour, bringing hope and redemption to humanity.
He advised Christians to celebrate the season by honouring the birth of Jesus Christ and sharing His love with people around them.
According to him, Christians should shun all acts that undermine the true essence of Christmas and consistently uphold the teachings of Jesus Christ, noting that any celebration without the Celebrant—Jesus Christ—in their lives is futile.
The Baptist cleric further admonished Christians to allow the birth of Jesus Christ to inspire them to spread love, kindness and hope to their neighbours, regardless of ethnic or religious differences.
He also enjoined them to use the Christmas season to pray for Nigeria, especially for divine intervention in overcoming the nation’s economic and security challenges.
Reverend Oyelami equally called on governments at all levels to uphold integrity, serve with accountability, prioritise the welfare of Nigerians, and ensure effective security of lives and property across the country.
While stressing the need for all Nigerians to remain committed to the continuous corporate existence of the nation, he urged citizens to contribute their quota towards national peace and development.
