The All Progressive Congress (APC) on Thursday appointed the Leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, to head the re-election campaign of Ekiti State Governor, Mr.

Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, ahead of the June 18, 2026 governorship election.

Aside from the Senate Leader, the party also named the Chairman of Ekiti State APC, Mr.
Sola Elesin, as Vice Chairman of the campaign council, while the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Oyeniyi Adebayo, will serve as Secretary, alongside 54 other high-powered members of the council.
Members of the council also include the Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Adeyemi Adaramodu; Chairman, Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Services, Senator Cyril Fasuyi; Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye; and former Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Biodun Olujimi, among others.
In a statement issued by his Directorate of Media and Public Affairs on Thursday, Bamidele accepted the responsibility to lead the 57-member campaign council, describing it as an opportunity to highlight not only the governance record of Governor Oyebanji but also the achievements of the APC at the national level.
Bamidele expressed appreciation to the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him, noting that the nomination was both a rare privilege and a significant responsibility.
He assured that he would work closely with members of the campaign council, the Ekiti State APC leadership and the party’s National Secretariat to ensure the smooth re-election of Governor Oyebanji.
According to Bamidele, Oyebanji’s re-election “will be a referendum given our records of performance in the 40 months that he has been leading Ekiti State. Under his leadership, Ekiti State has enjoyed cohesion, peace and stability politically and socially.
“Governor Oyebanji has provided transformative leadership that accommodates the interests of all, regardless of their political and religious affiliation. Such a leader deserves another term to consolidate and complete development projects and programmes he has initiated for the generality of Ekiti residents.”
