The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG) and Electric Vehicles (EVs) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with You Jie Te Environment Technology Ltd (YJT) to domesticate the production of key energy infrastructure in Nigeria.

The agreement was signed during a five-day working visit to China, where the Executive Chairman of Pi-CNG, Mr Ismaeel Ahmed, led a delegation to YJT’s factories and corporate offices in Chengdu and Hangzhou.

The collaboration is aimed at localising the manufacturing and assembly of essential energy infrastructure in Nigeria, including CNG dispensers, refuelling stations and electric vehicle charging facilities.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Ahmed disclosed that the MoU also provides for the integration of advanced Internet of Things (IoT) solutions into Nigeria’s CNG and EV ecosystem.
According to him, YJT’s smart monitoring technologies will work alongside Pi-CNG’s National Gas Vehicle Monitoring System (NGVMS) to provide real-time supervision of refuelling equipment, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and economic data across refuelling stations nationwide.
Speaking on the significance of the partnership, the Pi-CNG Executive Chairman noted that the agreement would generate wide-ranging benefits beyond infrastructure development.
“This partnership represents a major milestone in ensuring that Nigerians gain access to cleaner and more affordable transport energy, while also promoting job creation, skills transfer and improved service reliability.
“Through local manufacturing and the deployment of smart monitoring technologies, we are enhancing transparency, safety and efficiency across the CNG and EV refuelling value chain, ultimately delivering better outcomes for commuters, operators and the wider economy,” he said.
As part of the China engagement, the Pi-CNG delegation also conducted an inspection visit to the factory of Sichuan Witent Technology Co. Ltd, a manufacturer of CNG conversion kits.
The visit featured discussions on possible investments in local assembly and full-scale manufacturing facilities in Nigeria to cater to the rising demand for vehicle conversions and to further strengthen local content within the gas-to-transport value chain.
The engagements in China underscore Pi-CNG’s strategic, results-oriented approach to international partnerships, technology transfer and domestic capacity development.
They also reaffirm the initiative’s commitment to expanding access to cleaner and more affordable alternative fuels, while supporting Nigeria’s transition to a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable transport energy system.
YJT is a leading Chinese provider of infrastructure and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions operating within the downstream oil and gas sector. (NAN)
