The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Arole Oodua, OBA Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has emphasized the need for the Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS, to strengthen its public engagement and communication strategies.

During a visit by the NRCS delegation, led by President Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, the Ooni acknowledged the organization’s critical role in providing humanitarian aid across Nigeria.

However, he stressed that the NRCS must adapt to the digital age and leverage technology to enhance its visibility and impact.

“Technology has revolutionized humanitarian services,” the Ooni said. “The Nigerian Red Cross Society must engage the public on its activities and operations. Without proper communication, the organization will suffer.”

The Ooni also urged the NRCS to build strategic partnerships with corporate organizations, NGOs, and government bodies to increase its visibility and attract more stakeholders and donors.

Also speaking NRCS, President Prince Adeaga expressed concern over the lack of sustained funding from federal, state, and local governments.

According to him, the visit marked a significant step in strengthening partnerships and expanding the NRCS’s humanitarian reach noting that the organization has been facing funding challenges.
