“Spirituality is the Key to True Success” – Madonna

Pop icon Madonna has shared how spirituality has profoundly influenced her life and career, describing it as the foundation of her success.

In her first-ever podcast interview on On Purpose with Jay Shetty, the 66-year-old superstar reflected on her spiritual journey, which began in 1996 following the birth of her first child, Lourdes, now 28.

“You need to be spiritual to be successful. Success is having a spiritual life, period. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have one,” Madonna said.

The “Like a Prayer” singer explained that her embrace of Kabbalah, a mystical Jewish tradition, reshaped her perspective on life and guided her decisions both personally and professionally. For her, true success lies not in wealth or fame, but in what she contributes to others.

“The greatest amount of light is where there’s darkness, and you can reveal the most amount of light. When you’re in a dark room, you turn on the light. When you’re in a room that’s already light, there’s no effort made. So should we look for darkness?” she reflected.

Describing her “soul’s purpose” as bringing light into the world, Madonna emphasized that she wants her actions to be “for the sake of sharing.”

Looking back on her decades-spanning career, the Queen of Pop admitted she once struggled under the burden of public judgment.

“I was a slave or victim of other people’s opinions of me. I don’t fit in, and not fitting in is what saves you,” she said.

She added that spirituality has been her anchor during life’s most difficult challenges.

“Spiritual wisdom is not helpful when everything’s going your way. It’s helpful when you’re challenged and when you’re happy,” she noted.
