In a keenly contested primary election for the Ekiti South Senatorial District, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Senate, Yemi Adaramodu, emerged victorious after securing a total of 12,200 votes to clinch the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adaramodu defeated two prominent political heavyweights in the race, including former Senate Minority Leader, Biodun Olujimi, who garnered 7,420 votes, and former member of the House of Representatives, Bamidele Faparusi, who polled 5,502 votes.

Announcing the result after the exercise, the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee, Adedoyin, stated that the election was conducted in line with the party’s constitutional guidelines and electoral procedures. He noted that Adaramodu not only fulfilled all constitutional and party requirements but also secured the highest number of lawful votes cast during the primary.

According to him, the outcome of the exercise reflected the overwhelming confidence reposed in Adaramodu by APC delegates across the senatorial district.

Following the official declaration, Adedoyin returned Adaramodu as the duly elected APC senatorial candidate for Ekiti South Senatorial District ahead of the forthcoming senatorial election.
