“With ₦500,000, Men Think They Can Woo Woman” – Veteran Actress Lola Idije Speaks on Single Motherhood Challenges

Renowned Yoruba actress Lola Idije has opened up about the harsh realities of single parenting, describing it as one of the most difficult journeys any woman can experience.

In an honest conversation with fellow actress Ayo Adesanya, she shared that raising children without the support of a partner is filled with heavy responsibilities and unending challenges.

According to her, from school fees to daily needs, single mothers often carry the burden alone, with little or no help. She noted that even when relatives or friends promise assistance, such promises frequently end in disappointment.

On the issue of relationships, Lola Idije condemned the unserious attitude of some men, revealing that many approach women on mere dares or peer influence. She further expressed concern that actresses are often disrespected, with some men assuming that a sum as little as ₦500,000 is enough to win over any woman in the industry.

She urged women to be cautious in whom they trust, warning that betrayal often comes from unexpected quarters. What hurts most, she added, is seeing people who could genuinely support single mothers instead choose to indulge in personal luxuries.

Despite these struggles, Lola Idije praised the resilience of women who continue to persevere, making sacrifices daily for the wellbeing of their children.
